Disappointing.. I walked several blocks to get here to find the place hot and the air stale with a hit of old cleaners. The Airconditioner could not have been on and after walking in the Summer heat this was not welcoming for a hot cup of coffee... I walked all the way back thinking maybe it was different back there... but no! I came here years ago and thought this was the best coffee shop I’d visited. Bummer... it wasn’t today it was 2 weeks ago that I stopped by. I’ll give it another try next time I’m in the city. It was a hot day when I came.

Excellent coffee but pricey. That's to be expected from a typical hipster coffee joint like this. Where they really shine is their ambiance. It's a very dark, rustic, bar/inn setup. Picture the Hog's Head Pub from Harry Potter, hah! I'd recommend it just for that.

Ground Central is a rare Oasis. I think it is a great place to meet someone in a venue which doesn't look, feel and act like your standard fare, cookie cutter, chain coffee shop. It has a great deal of old style charm with a comfortable reading room in the back, complete with library of books and comfortable chairs and seating. There are also smaller tables in the front to provide a good amount of comfortable seating and a hip and modern looking decor and oozing charm and ambiance. I enjoyed my mocha coffee, which was quite rich. Other small muffins and scones are also available.

As a “pseudo coffee drinker,” I really enjoyed my latte here. The baristas don’t put lids on the coffee so you can see the cute latte hearts and save plastic. The milk foam was not too airy or too dense and the coffee tasted good. We noticed what looked like a nifty additional water filtration system. The environment is nice and there is seating. The staff were nice and really tried to spell our names correctly on the coffee cups. There are many snack options.

You can always tell the quality of coffee by the coffee aroma entering a cafe. Ground Central has that aroma. If coffee is not your thing they have a nice selection of tea and wine. Yup wine and good wine too. Delicious pastries are available and everyone behind the counter is friendly. They always have good music playing on their vintage stereo, a Mcintosh receiver and what looks like Klipsch. The lounge in the back is cozy with plenty of seats.
